Ancient history

So this is ancient history, but we went to Colorado over Labor day!

We camped at a free campground along the Rio Grande on the way up. We shared the campground with some cows. The Rio Grande is WAY down in that canyon behind Ken.

The next morning we meandered up to Great Sand Dunes National Park, where I evidently neglected to take any close-up pictures. We did resolve to return in the early spring so we could see the river running along the sand dunes.

And we’re hiking in the Rockies with my Aunt and Uncle!

So pretty.

I have a thing for old, dead trees (and Ken, I suppose). The only good tree is a dead tree…

I don’t have a picture, but the purpose of the trip was mostly to spend time with my Grandpa Justin. He showed us some woodworking techniques so we’re all ready to build some cabinet fronts for our kitchen! He also told us some pretty funny stories about Mom’s old boyfriend, Mike.

The aspen were starting to turn on the top of the passes.
