Work is not optimal

I have had nothing but no good, horrible, very bad days at work since last Thursday. I have been working on two sets of experiments and haven’t been able to get either to work. I’m running out of time and it’s incredibly frustrating. These are both experiments that I’ve gotten to work in the past, and now I can’t repeat them.

I’ve not been able to do any writing on my dissertation because these are the sort of experiments where I have to adjust something every 10 minutes, which is just enough time for me to be bored out of my mind, but not enough time for me to be able to do anything truly useful. The good news is that the equipment I’m using for these experiments is tied up starting at the end of this week or beginning of next, so if I can’t get any results by then I guess I can quit trying, drop out of school, and become a pirate, which has always been one of my goals.
