Weekend: bullet style

  • Walking around a track all night with friends is a great way to spend a beautiful April evening.
  • The three hours of sleep between 3 and 6 AM are absolutely glorious and I was able to sleep regardless of all the noise and lights.
  • The event raised over $88,000 for the American Cancer Society
  • The event raised two wicked blisters on my left foot from me trying to walk in a way that didn’t hurt my hip for 14 miles
  • My hip was painful, but what was most painful was the weird muscles I apparently used to compensate. Walking the day after Relay was almost intolerable. I am SO old and decrepit. I had a genuine limp Saturday and Sunday, but thankfully it’s gone today.
  • Jason, the crazy dude who ran (ran, not walked) from 3AM to around 6:30 AM (16 miles. Mind boggles.), then did yoga from 6:30 to 7:30, then continued to walk later in the morning, convinced Ken and I to go camping Saturday night on top of everything else.
  • Camping is fun even when you fall asleep at 10:30 and have to get up at 7 to get back into town for church at 11.
  • Corned beef hash on buns is pretty much the best camping breakfast in the universe.
  • Seeing people driving buggies along the road is sorta surreal.
  • Potlucks rock my world
  • Going camping, walking all night, and a boyfriend who stockpiles dirty clothes makes a LOT of laundry to be cleaned.
