Entry for September 02, 2008

Forget that last entry about August being cool. I think it must have been over 90 every day here this weekend. And I was outside. Baking. It was fun though. I’ll write more about it when I get a chance to post pictures.

Richard Feynman’s famous lecture “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom” is on our assigned reading list for my Nanotechnology class. I’m pretty sure I’ve read it before, but I obviously don’t remember all of it. This struck me as amusing. While speaking about making very very tiny machines (we call the MEMs these days), he says,
“… the metals that we use have a grain structure, and this would be very annoying at small scale because the material is not homogeneous.” Very annoying. You don’t say?
