Why chemistry is loved by all:

From Crystal Chemistry by R.C Evans talking about benzene and how it has three double bonds and three single bonds… sorta

“When alternative configurations are possible it is natural to ask which is the ‘correct’ representation. The answer given by the valence-bond theory is that no one of these configurations is correct or has any existence, and that the true structure of the molecule corresponds to an intermediate condition to which all the possible separate configurations contribute.”

I think it’s funny that they say “no one of these configurations is correct OR HAS ANY EXISTANCE.” Perhaps that does not amuse anyone else. Well, who cares. This is MY blog, after all.

Everything they tell you about everything the first and second times you take chemistry is a lie.
